Mac Copenhaver was an Iowa State graduate in Business Administration. Prior to joining Independent Insurance Services in 2000, his career was with Travelers for 27-½ years, specializing in large commercial accounts. Ocean Marine Cargo and Regional Property Specialist were included in his responsibilities at Travelers. Mac had worked with Loss Responsive Accounts for over 25 years. He was the Iowa contact used by Home Office in dealing with local issues. Mac was successful in developing several programs for Iowa and nationally with Travelers. Large Automobile Fleet Accounts were a specialty area Mac handled. His background with complex accounts, including loss prevention, has assisted our agency in providing local expertise to our customers. His common sense approach was, "What is best for you?" Whether it was the analysis of Workers Compensation experience, cost analysis of possible solutions or Automobile exposure analysis, Mac could help.  Mac passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 7th, 2010, at his home in Urbandale, Iowa.  We have lost a valuable team member and close friend of many years.  Mac was a friend of us all, a very kind person, and he will be missed by everyone who came to know him.
